Problem Statement:
After misconfiguring a Juniper EX4200 Ethernet Switch, the device was reset to factory defaults, and rebooted. During reboot the system failed to restart, hanging at the "Loading JunOS..." screen on its LCD screen. This appears to indicate the JunOS image is corrupt and must be reinstalled, according to Juniper support
Solution:
(1) Determine the appropriate JunOS image:
(a) If the device will be used with another device as a part of a Virtual Chassis, then determine the JunOS version of the other device(s) to be connected to the same virtual chassis.
(b) If the device is to be used as a stand-alone device, then choose the latest stable JunOS version with the appropriate features required.
(2) Download the JunOS image (.tar.gz) from support.juniper.net using your juniper credentials.
(3) Format a USB stick with the FAT32 file system.
(4) Copy the JunOS image to the USB Stick.
(5) Insert the USB stick into the USB port on the switch.
(6) Connect via console port to the switch.
(7) Power on the switch.
(8) Stop the boot process in the loader prompt by pressing [spacebar] when it says "loading kernel."
(9) Type the command "install --format and press [enter].
